Net Impact

Net Impact is a global non profit that meets environmental and social challenges through business. The New Jersey Professional Chapter focuses on development of professionals who are interested in using their business skills to create positive impact. The NJ Chapter welcomes new members with an interest in social and environmental sustainability issues.

Past event topics have included Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability, Social Entrepreneurship, Non-profit and Public Management, Community Development, and Microfinance. Membership offers access to education on what businesses from Intel to Coca-Cola are doing to improve their bottom line and take responsibility for environmental stewardship.

Ecological Change Coalition

Net Impact has partnered with the Ecological Change Coalition, a Rutgers club who wants students and their communities to become educated about the changing state of our global community. Modern day issues concerning global warming are especially pertinent to their cause. They work with other organizations to familiarize Rutgers with the most current problems facing the environment.

This presentation-style panel event will discuss Energy Efficiency, Green Buildings, and Green Purchasing. Panelists are:

  1. A founding member of the USGBC NJ Chapter, Scott Chrisner - Execution of best practice design, construction, and building operation of a green building.
  2. Founders of GreenJobsUS training platform, green product providers, and advisors for Discovery Channel's Planet Green, W.J. Thomas & Jackie Jaques
  3. Green building/sustainability professional at Rutgers Center for Green Building, Jerry Flach - Rutgers Center for Green Building. Jerry will speak about the main benefits of building a "green" building and current developments in New Jersey.
  4. Co-founder of green jobs technician training program Envirolution (part of “Win Win Campaign"), Antuan Cannon - A small business energy efficiency campaign that gives high school, college, and post college youth technical skills to evaluate their energy consumption, costs, and direct them to energy efficiency incentive programs.
  5. Member of Rutgers University’s internationally-recognized Purchasing Department, Patrick Mullen - Pat will discuss Rutgers purchasing initiatives that reduce energy, waste, and increases operational efficiency.

Moderated by Ben Larkey, an experienced CSR professional, panelists will discuss internship/careers in energy, green buildings, and green purchasing, green building best practices, new energy efficiency technologies, the health benefits of green buildings, and more.
